MOSES ON MOUNT AVARIM – THE OLD AND THE NEW GENERATIONs
This art piece is a combination of ultrasound and photography and depicts the story of Moses as he looks at the gift of land for future generations. The new generation, who were either babies when the Hebrews left Egypt, or who were born in exile are depicted in colorful clothing in their tents at the bottom of the mountain (designer jeans and all – with latest cell phones!). Moses awaits death as an exile at the pinnacle of his mission. He has a black ultrasound cloud above his head depicting his end.

Well the story it told me … Once upon a time there were two twisted cans that were all bent out of shape with the way the world was going. They drugged themselves silly with synthetics( see list outside can), listened only to heavy metal music, decided to hang around trash and could never revigorate and recycle back into life, since nobody bothered to help them out and put them in the right place. There were others in similar situation who lay around the park. Mr “Screwed up Plastic” hated heavy metal, walked upside down on his cap and could not open up to anybody. He felt emptiness in the way his life had evolved and was hoping to start anew. One day a man walking a dog thought to himself. ” I could make a difference in somebody’s life! ” He picked up the out of shape and out of mind empty products of our culture and put them in their place – a recycling trash can. It was a dark and smelly place and the three were quite unhappy. The man shouted down the hutch – “One day you will be whole and fulfilled again! Trust me”. And then the police descended and took the man and his dog away because they found him speaking to a trash bin. The lesson? – It is mind over (recycling) matter – about the the cans and canknots ,- and lastly – recycle but do not speak to the trashcan.

This beautiful example reveals the superhydrophobic property of the rose leaves. As water comes into contact with the leaf it “balls” up and rolls off, cleaning the dust, drying the leaf, and preventing the growth of mould.
The water “balls” at the the edge of the angled leaf and eventually succumbs to gravity, placing the water where it can do the most good – ie the roots of the plant. NATURE IS AWESOME!

Was walking the dog thinking about depositing the dog trash and the similar dog trash events of the terrorist who muerdered a 13 year old girl in her bed yesterday.
The recycling bin was next to the dog trash bin and its lid was covered with water droplets.
On closer inspection there was ROYGBIV on the water droplets ..
A welcome splash of a Jackson Pollock…
I inverted the colors and turned the image upside down and voila!!…
and all was OK for a few brief moments …

HANDS – SOFT AND HARD – GIVING AND RECEIVING Its the time of year when old stuff from classrooms is being thrown out .. and I found the first piece in the dumpster while walking Benji and instead of it being lost forever it has been preserved! yay – and the parallel with the Xray art piece is remarkable. I loved the top hand in both pieces acting as the giving hand, others reaching to receive, and yet others now giving themselves .. … and the rippling effect one act can have on many! As my brother Baruch wrote in his weekly devar “Tzedakah … provides a sense of the DYNAMIC MOVEMENTS which it causes between the body, the Heart, the Soul and Hashem”.

THE FALLING MAN (photo by Richard Drew) – had nothing to soften his fall – cannot imagine what went through his mind at the time. However he appears relaxed and resigned and completely aligned with the forces of gravity that he had unconsciously dealt with in his life in the upright position.

Learned my cousin Alden Sacks passed away yesterday.
He was 2 years older than I.
He was such an integral part our youth.
Alden was naughty, fun filled and full hearted bringing excitement and laughter into our lives making these years much richer than they would otherwise have been.
I had not seen him for about 20 years and now of course regret this
Fortunately we connected only last week but my heart feels like the puddle reflection of this Norway spruce that I noticed while walking Benjy this morning
